had left behind
On the border between the Marche and Umbria, in a landscape still wild and preserved, hides Mevale, a forgotten medieval village, perched on a promontory as if out of time. Once a fief of the powerful Counts of Alviano, Mevale was a strategic place, a center of life and power.
Silent today, it retains traces of its past grandeur. On the main dwelling, a stone coat of arms still stands out: one can distinguish a rampant lion gules, crossed by a brochant band, a sculpted and solemn reminder of the seigneurial power that once inhabited these walls.
Further on, a private chapel adjoining another dwelling recalls the spiritual intimacy of the noble families who lived there. In the center of the village stands the Pieve di Santa Maria Annunziata, consecrated at the beginning of the 12th century, enriched over the centuries with a Renaissance portal and sumptuous frescoes. Entering this church is to travel through four centuries of art history, from Gothic to Baroque.

Restoration & Renaissance
Mevale embodies a unique opportunity to participate in the restoration of a heritage that has spanned centuries. This place is a call to those who believe that certain places have a memory to preserve, a beauty to transmit and a responsibility to share.
